Our Story
Hi, I'm KD, the hands and heart behind Olivia Cactus. It started with jewelry I couldn't find anywhere in Houston. Somewhere along the way, God made it about so much more than jewelry.
Before kids, A and I were somewhat nomadic (NOLA, SF, Thailand…), and those years taught me exactly what I wanted to wear: pieces I could put on and leave on, light enough to forget about, never flashy. In San Francisco I fell in love with the dainty jewelry tucked into little shops all over the city.
When we came back to Houston, my adopted home, that look was nearly impossible to find without spending $300+ on a single piece. So I made my own.
I posted a few pieces online in 2016, and over the years the shop grew into a full team in a big space Uptown. I'm thankful for everyone who was part of that season. These days I've scaled back, pouring more into my two amazing kids while keeping a tight grip on the quality of every piece.
This shop has been carried by so much word of mouth, by customers who keep coming back, and by more grace than I can explain. Along the way we've worked with a few genuine, kind creators, and each one fell into place. Most recently I got to design a bracelet for Lauren Daigle.
More than anything, my focus now is faith: sharing the gospel and sending encouragement and joy out into the world, one dainty Morse code piece at a time. I love that a word of hope can hide in a few beads and go with someone through their day.
I am beyond grateful for every one of you, and for the quiet ways God keeps guiding me.
